Dr. Bharath Rathakrishnan is a board certified cardiologist who specializes in interventional & structural cardiology. Dr. Rathakrishnan is passionate about the fields of interventional & structural cardiology and is committed to improving patients’ quality of life and long-term outcomes through minimally-invasive procedures. His areas of expertise include transradial percutaneous coronary interventions, utilizing intravascular imaging for optimal outcomes with coronary stenting procedures, and performing complex interventional procedures with rotational atherectomy, intravascular lithotripsy, and mechanical circulatory support devices. He has pursued dedicated training for structural heart interventions and performs procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for aortic stenosis, mitral valve repair for mitral regurgitation with MitraClip, as well as closure of Patent Foramen Ovale and Atrial Septal Defects. His aim is to understand patients’ goals and wishes and make decisions about their treatment plan together.

Dr. Rathakrishnan grew up in Orlando, FL. He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University, where he studied neuroscience, and an MD from Duke University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Rathakrishnan completed his residency in internal medicine at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He further pursued cardiology, interventional cardiology, and structural cardiology fellowships at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He served as the chief interventional fellow and was an avid participant in the catheterization lab’s quality improvement program. During his time in residency and fellowship he helped facilitate clinical trials utilizing cutting-edge technology and therapies within interventional & structural cardiology.

Dr. Rathakrishnan is an active member of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has also contributed to clinical research and has authored over ten peer-reviewed publications. He has presented his research and served as a panelist at national and international conferences.
